Case study
Belltel Oman A Bilingual E-Commerce Portal Running on Live SAP Data
Project overview

About the project.

Belltel is a leading Omani mobile device and MDM solution distributor, supplying telecom equipment to service providers nationwide through an extensive branch network covering all major towns, serving the wholesale, independent retail and power retail sectors, and backed by its own state-of-the-art service centre. That is a distribution business first — and distribution businesses run on SAP, not on a shop plugin.

The brief was to give Belltel a consumer-facing online store that could sell across its full range — Samsung smartphones, tablets, wearables and televisions, Bang & Olufsen premium audio, home appliances and accessories — to customers across Oman, in both English and Arabic, while remaining connected to the SAP system that already holds the company’s authoritative product, pricing and stock data. We designed the storefront custom rather than adapting a theme, built it on WordPress so Belltel’s own team could run merchandising and content, and integrated it with the SAP backend so that what a customer sees online reflects the company’s real operational data rather than a separately maintained copy of it. The platform also supports a vendor model, allowing Belltel to extend the storefront into a marketplace with additional sellers alongside its own catalogue.
