From ‘അ’ to ARANG — Crafting an Identity Rooted in Kerala, Created for the World
Project overview

About the project.

Some projects become more than another entry in a portfolio. They become part of our journey. ARANG Fest is an initiative by KITES INDIA celebrating art, creativity, culture and the spirit of Malayalis across the world — and Richinnovations was entrusted with creating its brand identity and logo. The brief carried a quiet tension worth solving well: build something that feels unmistakably Kerala, while giving ARANG a visual language entirely its own. Our starting point was language itself. We began with ‘അ’, the first letter of the Malayalam alphabet, the first sound a Malayali child learns, and the first letter of ARANG — a symbol of beginnings, of expression, of a culture that has always placed the written and spoken word at its centre. From there came the creative challenge that shaped the entire identity: to sculpt ‘അ’ into the form of a small, characterful elephant, one of Kerala’s most instantly recognised cultural symbols. The result is a mark that carries its heritage in its construction rather than its decoration — a letterform to those who read Malayalam, a warm and welcoming character to everyone else, and a single identity capable of holding a global stage. Seeing an idea that began on our creative desk become the face of a worldwide platform for Malayalis is a rare feeling. Having it unveiled by Shri V. D. Satheesan, Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala, made the milestone one our entire team will remember.
